About PDF Summarizer

PDF Summarizer extracts a document's text in your browser and sends it to an AI model to produce a summary — a way to get the substance of a long report, paper or contract before deciding whether to read all of it.

You bring your own API key and pick the provider: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or Azure OpenAI. Unlike the other tools here, this one makes a network request by design, and it is worth being precise about what that means: the extracted text goes to the provider you chose and to nobody else, your key is stored in your browser and used only to call that provider directly, and the PDF file itself is never uploaded anywhere.

Scanned PDFs need OCR PDF first, since there is no text layer to extract.

How to use PDF Summarizer

  1. Open AI settings and choose your provider, model and API key.
  2. Select the PDF you want summarized.
  3. Let the text extract, then run the summary.
  4. Read the result, or switch model and try again.

Frequently asked questions

Where does my document text go?

Only to the AI provider you configure, called directly from your browser with your own key. It does not pass through any server belonging to this site.

Do I need my own API key?

Yes. There is no shared key, which is what keeps the tool free and keeps your usage under your own account and provider terms.

Why does my scanned PDF produce nothing?

A scan is images, not text, so there is nothing to send. Run OCR PDF first to add a text layer.
